After graduating from high school in June 2021, I flew to the US for the first time in August 2021 to study abroad at a small college in Massachusetts. Since then, I am living in the US on the campus of Nichols College. On this page of my website I am sharing my experiences and my knowledge on studying abroad.
My College
The college I am attending is Nichols College. It is a small business and liberal arts school, located in a small town in Dudley, Massachusetts. The campus is surrounded by rolling hills and a pleasant countryside. From campus it takes 30 minutes by car to the largest city in Central Massachusetts, Worcester.
The school has a student body of about 1,200 undergraduates. The college offers 10 residential buildings and almost 85% of the students live on campus. If you want to read more about the housing options of Nichols College you can click here to get to the official website. Additionally, the college offers over 50 clubs and sports teams. Currently, Nichols competes in the Commonwealth Coast Conference that is part of the NCAA Division III.
How I am Involved on Campus
Although the campus in located in a rural area, I do not get bored on campus quickly. In my freshman year I became a member of the Nichols College Women’s Tennis Team. Thus, when my team is in season, we practice a lot in the afternoons, but we also get to compete against other colleges, especially on the weekends. Additionally, I represent the team in SAAC which stands for Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. This committee meets a few times in the year to improve the student-athlete experience at Nichols College. Besides playing tennis, I also tutor in the Nichols College Academic Center for Excellence and Support (ACES). ACES is a center were every student receives help for their academics. In the resource center I tutor mathematics and statistics.
